"Why Be A Teacher?"

I started to ramble on and list the infinite number of reasons I want to be a teacher to those of you who continue to waste ur breath trying to convince me to change my major..but then my mommy (also a teacher, who has just discovered YouTube lol) sent me this SUPERB video, and it explains it for me. Take a look....

I received an anonymous message from someone (who shall henceforth be known as Yoda..for s/he IS wise indeed.) from ARKANSAS (lol..I know..). A snippet of the..uhhh..insightful* message went like this:

"I am 25 years old and I have just received my business degree this past spring. After 20 years of school, I have to agree with your family/friends/whoever is telling you not to be a teacher..one would have to be stupid to be a teacher in today's world, or for the past 20 years for that matter. So I guess that would mean that teachers are stupid, and you wouldn't want to be considered stupid by the world, would you?"

Damn..dat sho was deep. Real..intellectual-like..and stuff. =/..the message gets better, but I'll just focus on this portion for now.

First of all, I would like to take this time to literally LOL.

Secondly, I want to thank the entire state of Arkansas for your deep concern and for educating this young person.

Thirdly, I have a question for you, Yoda. If teachers are stupid..and you've been in school learning EVERYTHING YOU KNOW from teachers (and they clearly did a great job with you, Yoda.) for the past 20 years..does that make you stupid too, or are you smarter because you rose above and chose to pursue a degree* in business instead of education during your seven year stint in college* (a time during which I'm sure a professor ("college teacher") TAUGHT (past tense of to teach) you everything you know about business (your field of expertise*))? I'm a little confused about where you now stand.

PLEASE clear this up for me, Yoda. I'm DYING for your help!!!

Witnessing Amazing

The Guy Is A Fish.

Michael Phelps.

What a specimen to behold. I feel priveleged to have witnessed the MOST DOMINANT athlete of our time do his thing over the past week (Sorry, Michael Jordan of the 90s Bulls was not OUR time since most of us have to watch ESPN Classic, NBA TV, or some sort of "Greatest Moments" Countdown to witness his best moments. We unfortunately got him as a 2000s Wizard..and Tiger Woods is NOT an athlete..UGH!! *note to self..publish post about Tiger Woods not being an athlete*). He won 8 Gold Medals in 8 different races, breaking 7 world records. He won close races (.01 second margin of victory) he dominated races he won indivial races, he won team relays, he did it all. His greatness commands the world's attention (Much like the 90s Jordan). Although I do have friends who are competitive swimmers, I'm not exactly a die-hard fan of the sport. However, I felt compelled to drop everything I was doing and tune in to each of his races, out of fear that I may miss out on a single moment of greatness. He is the definition of amazing, and I feel blessed (extreme, I know, but I can't think of a better word at the moment) to have witnessed it.

And Again..It Doesn't Hurt That He's Nice To Look At.

IN ADDITION.......

There is another amazing moment that happened tonight at the Olympics which is SORT OF being outshined by Phelps-Mania...

Jamaica's (hence the color scheme) Usain "Lightning" Bolt SMASHED the World Record For The 100 meter dash, which names the world's fastest man. He finished with a time of

9.69 seconds

The race wasn't even close. Take a look at the photo finish...

If you look closely at the picture, the other guys are running their little hearts out. Not Bolt..he's kinda skipping lol..

The thing that made the race even More amazing was the fact that, about 80 meters into the race, Bolt looked to his right and left and realized that there was NOBODY around him so...

HE SLOWED DOWN, JOGGED THRU THE FINISH LINE AND BEGAN CELEBRATING EARLY.

LOL..how embarassing was that for everyone who was running SOOOOOO hard lmfao. OMG..that was theeee funniest sports moment I've seen in a long time..typical Jamaican (yes, I'm allowed to say that lol). I just wanna know how great his time would have been had he not slowed down, but I'm sure glad he did, cuz that was a GREAT laugh lol.

FINALLY!! I CAN WASH MY JEANS!! Lol

So as I was takin my daily drive thru Blogland (yes, thats a real place..cuz I say so) a few weeks back, I took exit 13B to visit the fellas over at g4crew.blogspot.com and I came across this. Its BluWash Clean for denim. I don't know about you but I dread having to wash jeans out of fear (yes, fear.) that the color will lose its quality. Anywho..I ordered this magical blue formula, but when it came time for me to test it out, I got nervous, and decided to test it out on a pair of jeans I absolutely hate and probably will never wear again (yes, the A-pockets..UGH!! lol).

Summer Olympics 2008

After the long (4 year lol) wait...THE OLYMPICS ARE FINALLY BACK!!! The Opening ceremonies in Beijing were nothing but amazing!! I think its safe to say that China's fireworks are better than ours lol take a look....







Anywho..on to the games. Because there is so much controversy surrounding the Olympics and participants taking performance enhancers every year, I have lost interest. However, one of the few things I'm actually looking forward to this year is seeing if Michael Phelps can achieve the record of the most medals in a single Olympic Games. 4 years ago in Athens he tied the record with seven medals. This year, as the favorite in every event hes participating in, if all goes according to plan, he could return home (to Baltimore) with eight. Cool. And it doesn't hurt that he's pretty hot and I just like to look at him lol.



The other thing I'm looking forward to is our so-called "Redeem Team" which is supposed to get U.S. Men's Basketball out of this horrible downward spiral they are currently in. Take a look at them:




I was on the "Redeem Team" band wagon until I watched the Russians almost beat them in an exhibition game by simply not rebounding offensively and sending 4 men back to stop the fast break. If its that easy for the Russians to nearly steal a win, how will Team USA hold up against the elite teams of the world such as Pau Gasol's Spanish team, Manu Ginobili's Argentenians, and the other medal favorite team: the Greeks? I don't know, but I'm definitely gonna watch each game to see. Sure, we have the most talented team by far, there are nothing but NBA all-stars onthe team. But I think its safe to say we are the least experienced and least disciplined when it comes to international basketball and FIBA rules. For the sake of all the players on the team who have GUARANTEED a gold medal for the US, I sure hope they were right. I'll be roooting for them either way.


You may be wondering why I'm not looking forward to the women's basketball games. That is because, quite frankly, with the exception of a few individual players from other countries, the U.S. is still the mecca forwomen's basketball, and noone else is even close yet, so unless I hear otherwise, I probably won't tune in.


I'm sure there will be other developing stories throughout the games that capture my attention. But for now, Michael Phelps and our "Redeem Team" are all that interest me.
